When to fit pages to one paper size
Documents gathered from several places arrive in a jumble of sizes — a scan slightly oversized, a phone export long and narrow, a supplier quote on Letter. Printed as they are, some pages shrink and others lose their edges.
This puts every page on the same sheet. Proportions are untouched, so nothing is squashed, and the grey border a scanner leaves can be cut away.
How to use it
- 1Upload the PDF with the mismatched pages.
- 2Choose the paper. A4 for most things, or match the first page.
- 3For scans, leave trimming on Automatic — each page is measured and only the inked area is kept.
- 4Press resize and the file downloads.
Common questions
- Will the text be stretched?
- No. Each page keeps its proportions, is scaled to the largest size that fits, and is centred. Anything left over stays white.
- What happens to sideways pages?
- They stay sideways. With orientation on Keep original, landscape pages land on landscape sheets. Choose Portrait to force everything upright.
- How does automatic trimming decide?
- The page is drawn and the area holding anything darker than paper is measured, with a little room left round it. Blank pages, and pages covered edge to edge, are left alone.
