When to print several pages per sheet

Print shops charge by the sheet. A twelve-page menu at four to a sheet becomes three sheets, and the bill shrinks with it.

Booklets are a different problem. Fold sheets in half and the page numbers stop running in order — the outermost sheet carries the last page next to the first. That order is easy to get wrong by hand, so it is worked out here instead.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload the PDF you want to print.
  2. 2Pick pages-per-sheet or booklet.
  3. 3For pages-per-sheet, choose how many. Cutting guides help if you plan to trim.
  4. 4Build, download, then print at actual size.

Common questions

Do I need to change print settings?
Turn page scaling off and print at actual size. The pages are already arranged; letting the printer arrange them again shrinks everything twice.
How do I print the booklet double-sided?
Choose double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Flipping on the long edge prints the backs upside down. On a single-sided printer, print the odd sheets, turn the stack over, then print the even ones.
What if the page count is not a multiple of four?
Blanks are added to reach one. Folding puts four pages on every sheet, so the count has to divide evenly. The blanks usually land at the back.
